R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort |
|
those saddened by the passing of Roy Dowell Hailey of Houston on |
|
February 16, 2015, at the age of 59; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Rosebud in 1955, Roy Hailey was the son of |
|
Dowell and Mary Martha Hailey; he grew up on his family's ranch in |
|
Baileyville, and after graduating from The University of Texas, he |
|
went on to earn his law degree from the South Texas College of Law in |
|
1981; and |
|
WHEREAS, In the course of his accomplished legal career, |
|
Mr. Hailey became a well-known expert in the representation of |
|
community associations and developers; he was a longtime partner in |
|
the Butler Hailey law practice, which merged with another firm to |
|
become Roberts Markel Weinberg Butler Hailey PC in January 2014; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed attorney often gave presentations to |
|
the State Bar of Texas, and he was a member of many legislative |
|
action groups, most recently serving as co-chair of the Texas |
|
Community Association Advocates; he also held the office of |
|
president of the Greater Houston Chapter of the Community |
|
Associations Institute, and he volunteered with many other groups |
|
related to his area of legal specialization; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Hailey enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife of 31 years, June Andersen Hailey; he was an |
|
enthusiastic outdoorsman and enjoyed boating on Lake Travis and |
|
working livestock and hunting with his sons, Andrew and Niels, at |
|
his family's ranch in Baileyville; additionally, he was a valued |
|
member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder for |
|
the past 12 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family and his profession, Roy |
|
Hailey made a meaningful difference in the lives of many people, and |
|
he will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all those who had |
|
the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Roy Dowell Hailey |
|
and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to |
|
his wife, June Andersen Hailey; to his sons, Andrew Dowell Hailey |
|
and Niels Oliver Hailey; to his brother, David Wall Hailey, and his |
|
wife, Camille; to his nephew and nieces, Joshua, Elizabeth, and |
|
Rebekah Hailey; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Roy Dowell |
|
Hailey. |
