R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Mariachi Oro from McAllen High School was
  crowned 6A Champion at the 2015 Mexican American School Board
  Members Association/University Interscholastic League High School
  State Mariachi Competition, held in San Antonio, TX on February 7;
  and
         WHEREAS, Ably led by director Alex Treviño, the members of
  Mariachi Oro impressed the judges with their skill and passion and
  were awarded a Division 1 Superior rating; the group closed out the
  competition with an exceptional 12-minute set that included the
  songs "Yo Soy de Mero Jalisco," "Ódiame," and "La Rosa Colorada";
  and
         WHEREAS, This is the second consecutive year Mariachi Oro has
  won a state championship, after claiming the title in the 5A
  division in 2014; though the 2015 ensemble contained many new
  members, the students once again demonstrated the hard work and
  determination necessary to earn the championship plaque and medals;
  and
         WHEREAS, By proving themselves one of the finest ensembles in
  the Lone Star State, the members of the McAllen High School Mariachi
  Oro have become a source of great pride to their school and
  community, and these talented young musicians may take
  well-deserved satisfaction in this outstanding accomplishment;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the McAllen High School Mariachi
  Oro on being named 6A Champion at the 2015 MASBA/UIL High School
  State Mariachi Competition and extend to the group's members
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mariachi Oro as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
