R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Sweeny Community Hospital is marking the 50th
  anniversary of its founding on March 29, 2015, and this milestone
  provides an ideal opportunity to recognize this noteworthy
  institution; and
         WHEREAS, In 1963, the Sweeny Hospital District was formed by
  the Texas Legislature in southwestern Brazoria County, following a
  decade-long effort on the part of the community to increase health
  care accessibility in rural areas; two years later, Sweeny
  Community Hospital opened its doors, and it has since expanded its
  services, staff, and facilities to continue to meet the needs of the
  region; and
         WHEREAS, Sweeny Community Hospital is a 24-hour operational
  critical access hospital that offers both inpatient and outpatient
  care; a member of the Texas Hospital Association and the Texas
  Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals, it serves as a Level IV
  Trauma Center and houses 20 beds, a dedicated surgical suite, and
  more than a dozen outpatient clinical services; and
         WHEREAS, The hospital is staffed by a team of highly
  qualified medical professionals, including four primary care
  providers who coordinate treatment for patients at all life stages;
  referrals can additionally be made to 11 on-site specialists,
  providing patients with an exceptional continuum of care at one
  location; and
         WHEREAS, Local residents are further served by the Fountains
  Assisted Living Facility, situated next to the main hospital
  campus, as well as the Wellness Center and Kittie Nash Groce
  Rehabilitation Center; moreover, West Brazos EMS is the only
  hospital-based emergency response team in Brazoria County with a
  medical intensive care unit, offering security and peace of mind to
  those in its service area; and
         WHEREAS, For half a century, Sweeny Community Hospital has
  distinguished itself as a resource of inestimable value to the
  region, and members of its skilled and dedicated staff are to be
  commended for the difference that they have made in the lives of
  countless area Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sweeny
  Community Hospital and extend to all those associated with the
  institution sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the hospital as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
