R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Cecil Earnestine Anderson of Dallas on February 15,
  2015, at the age of 106; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1908 in Cameron, Cecil Anderson attended
  Paul Quinn College after high school, completed her bachelor's
  degree at Huston-Tillotson College, received her master's degree
  from Prairie View A&M University, and pursued postgraduate studies
  at Texas A&M University; in 2013 she was awarded an honorary
  doctorate of humane letters by Paul Quinn College and was
  recognized as the school's oldest living graduate; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Anderson enjoyed a long and rewarding career in
  education, teaching in the Cameron Independent School District for
  more than four decades until her retirement in 1975; upon leaving
  the classroom, Mrs. Anderson moved to the Dallas area and became
  actively involved with a number of worthwhile community
  organizations; she was a longtime precinct chair in South Dallas,
  and she frequently volunteered her time and talents to the March of
  Dimes and the Boy Scouts of America; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong member of the African Methodist Episcopal
  Church, Mrs. Anderson was a valued congregant at Smith Chapel AME
  Church in Dallas for many years; she held a number of important
  leadership roles within the church, including steward, missionary,
  and Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher; in her leisure
  time, she took great pleasure in traveling, cooking, and visiting
  with family and friends; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Anderson was blessed with the love and support
  of her husband, the late Luther Anderson, and she was the proud
  mother of two children, Jacqueline and Kelly; with the passing
  years, she experienced the joy of seeing her family grow to include
  three additional generations; and
         WHEREAS, A source of wisdom and inspiration, Cecil Anderson
  made a positive difference in the lives of innumerable people as an
  educator, civic leader, and role model, and all those who were
  fortunate enough to know her will forever treasure their memories
  of her kindness and devotion; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Cecil Earnestine
  Anderson and extend sincere condolences to her many loved ones;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cecil
  Anderson.
