R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Association of African American |
|
Chambers of Commerce are gathering in Austin on March 31, 2015, in |
|
celebration of Black Business Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officially established in 1988, the TAAACC can trace |
|
its roots to the 1920s, when the Dallas Negro Chamber of Commerce |
|
was formed to facilitate the participation of African American |
|
business owners in the economic mainstream; the TAAACC today is a |
|
statewide network of African American chambers of commerce and |
|
represents more than 10,000 firms; and |
|
WHEREAS, The association educates members about laws and |
|
regulations that could impact businesses, and it works within the |
|
legislative process to ensure equal opportunities for African |
|
American enterprises; moreover, it coordinates with leaders in |
|
government and the corporate world to promote diversity and |
|
inclusiveness, and it supports policies that expand access to |
|
achieving economic prosperity; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Association of African American Chambers |
|
of Commerce is an effective advocate for its members, and its |
|
notable endeavors have helped to improve business conditions and |
|
strengthen the economic base in communities across the state; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 31, 2015, as Texas Association |
|
of African American Chambers of Commerce Black Business Day at the |
|
State Capitol and extend to all those participating in the event |
|
sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable visit to |
|
Austin. |
