R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Barbara Vera Canales of Freer on March 27, 2014, at the
  age of 79; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Canales was born in Rios on November 3, 1934,
  to Ernesto and Braulia Vera; following her marriage to Jose Canales
  in 1954, Mrs. Canales devoted herself to her home and to their
  family, which grew to include three children, Ricardo, Carolina,
  and Corina; in later years, she also took great pride in her six
  grandchildren, Amanda, Arnoldo, Elizabeth, Ruben, Debbie, and
  Darlene; and
         WHEREAS, After her children graduated from high school,
  Mrs. Canales completed her GED; she wanted to earn a bachelor's
  degree as well, but she suffered a stroke while attending college;
  subsequently, she remained a strong proponent of education, and she
  played an important role in civic life, working for the election and
  reelection of her husband during his 32 years as justice of the
  peace; a natural campaigner, she won over countless people with her
  grace, warm smile, and kind and friendly nature; and
         WHEREAS, Barbara Canales brought joy to innumerable people,
  and although she is deeply missed, she will forever hold a special
  place in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Barbara V. Canales
  and extend sincere sympathy to her loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House
  of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Barbara
  V. Canales.
