R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas colleges and universities contribute |
|
|
immeasurably to the future of the Lone Star State, and those |
|
|
professionals who give generously of their expertise to these vital |
|
|
institutions of higher education are indeed deserving of |
|
|
recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Carmen Olivas Graham has served on the El Paso |
|
|
Community College Board of Trustees for the past five years; she has |
|
|
nearly three decades of experience working in Texas public schools |
|
|
and universities as a teacher, administrator, and parent educator; |
|
|
in all of her work, Dr. Graham has maintained a steadfast |
|
|
dedication to improving the lives of people in her community and |
|
|
beyond; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This distinguished woman received her bachelor's |
|
|
degree from The University of Texas at El Paso and went on to earn |
|
|
her master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University before |
|
|
completing her doctorate at New Mexico State University; recognized |
|
|
for her exceptional skill and insight, Dr. Graham was appointed to |
|
|
two terms on the Texas Workforce Investment Council by Governor |
|
|
Rick Perry; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Carmen Olivas Graham has greatly benefited the |
|
|
students of El Paso Community College, and in so doing, she has |
|
|
garnered the lasting respect and admiration of countless people |
|
|
along the way; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Dr. Carmen Olivas Graham for her service |
|
|
on the Board of Trustees at El Paso Community College and extend to |
|
|
her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important |
|
|
work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. Graham as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
