R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Megan Mizell of San Angelo has attained the Girl |
|
|
Scout Gold Award, the organization's highest commendation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Mizell successfully |
|
|
met a series of requirements emphasizing community service, |
|
|
personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership |
|
|
skills; in addition, she planned and implemented a Girl Scout Gold |
|
|
Award project to provide underserved children with donated tickets |
|
|
to various fine arts performances; the program, called First |
|
|
Experiences, was inspired by her own influences from the theater |
|
|
and music, and she hopes to motivate other young Texans to develop |
|
|
an interest in the arts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By encouraging young women to build confidence, |
|
|
explore career opportunities, and become more socially conscious, |
|
|
the Girl Scout program is helping its participants to achieve their |
|
|
greatest potential as engaged citizens and leaders; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Megan Mizell has |
|
|
demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest |
|
|
ideals of the Girl Scout organization, and she indeed merits |
|
|
special recognition for her achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Megan Mizell on earning the Girl |
|
|
Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Mizell as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
