R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the State of Texas |
|
|
is pleased to recognize Martha K. Spinks, who has been selected for |
|
|
induction on March 21, 2015, into the San Antonio Women's Hall of |
|
|
Fame for her outstanding work and leadership in support of the |
|
|
military; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since 1984, the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame |
|
|
annually honors those women who have contributed significantly to |
|
|
the San Antonio community and the Bexar County region through their |
|
|
accomplishments in their profession or field of service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Martha K. Spinks was an Army spouse before being |
|
|
commissioned as an Army social work officer, and she and her husband |
|
|
raised two children during their Army career, rising to the rank of |
|
|
Lieutenant Colonel; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She has been the Director of Bexar Area Agency on |
|
|
Aging for Alamo Area Council of Governments in San Antonio, Texas, |
|
|
since June 2009 and in that role has made veterans and their |
|
|
families an priority group for information, referral and assistance |
|
|
services and has worked closely with the San Antonio Coalition for |
|
|
Veterans and other groups to provide services to those who have |
|
|
bravely served us; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of |
|
|
Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Martha K. Spinks for her |
|
|
exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to her on her |
|
|
induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her as an expression of high regard and esteem by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
