R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Driscoll Independent School District is
  fortunate to benefit from the leadership of superintendent
  Dr. Cynthia M. Garcia and the district's board of trustees, whose
  efforts to enhance the quality of education for area schoolchildren
  are indeed worthy of recognition; and
         WHEREAS, Working alongside administrators, classroom
  teachers, and parents, the superintendent and board of trustees
  uphold the district's mission to empower students with the
  knowledge and skills necessary to become responsible and productive
  citizens; their collective responsibilities include setting policy
  and ensuring the orderly operation of school facilities, with the
  goal of fostering an optimal learning environment for all students
  in the district; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Garcia and the trustees of Driscoll ISD preside
  over a district that has earned repeated "Exemplary" ratings from
  the Texas Education Agency; the district serves approximately 260
  students in prekindergarten through eighth grade, and at all grade
  levels teachers strive to encourage a culture of college-readiness
  and enthusiasm toward planning for the future; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran educator with more than two decades of
  experience, Dr. Cynthia Garcia began her tenure with the district
  as an intermediate teacher in 1994; she took her current position as
  superintendent of schools in 2006, and among her accomplishments in
  this role was the recent passage of a bond proposal to finance a new
  campus; and
         WHEREAS, The Driscoll ISD school board is led by president
  Veronica Ramon, vice president Johanna Schubert, and secretary
  Cindy Lopez; members also include Gloria Olivarez, Lala Zuniga,
  Vanessa Garcia-Silguero, and Anna Segura; and
         WHEREAS, Each of these dedicated professionals brings a
  wealth of insight and experience to her post, and they may take
  well-deserved pride in their achievements and in the appreciation
  that they have earned from members of the Driscoll community; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Dr. Cynthia M. Garcia and the members of
  the Driscoll ISD Board of Trustees for their outstanding work and
  extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Garcia and the board as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
