R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may
  temper the profound sadness felt at the death of Roberto Martinez
  Jr. of Clint on May 10, 2014, at the age of 66; and
         WHEREAS, Born to Roberto and Delfina Martinez in El Paso on
  June 9, 1947, Roberto Martinez grew up in a large family with 12
  siblings; he answered his nation's call to duty as a young man,
  serving bravely during the Vietnam War; he was honored for his
  military service with a number of prestigious accolades, including
  the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam
  Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of
  Vietnam Cross of Gallantry; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez enjoyed nearly two decades of marriage
  with his wife, Sarah, and he was the proud father of six children,
  Cristie, Naomi, Olivia, Sergio, Christine, and Melissa; he later
  knew the joy of welcoming 12 grandchildren and a great-grandson
  into his cherished family; in retirement, he delighted in spending
  time with loved ones and his many friends; and
         WHEREAS, Roberto Martinez Jr. lived a life rich in the
  intangibles that matter most, and he will long be remembered with
  great affection by all those who were privileged to know him; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Roberto Martinez
  Jr. and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to
  his wife, Sarah Sitters; to his children, Cristie Lopez and Naomi,
  Olivia, Sergio, Christine, and Melissa Martinez; to his sisters,
  Janie, Sonia, Chayo, and Patricia; to his brothers, Ruben, Jaime,
  Jeremy, and Toby; to his grandchildren and great-grandson; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Roberto
  Martinez Jr.
