R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Joseph Wallace Fields Jr. of Clint on April 13, 2014, at
  the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Born in El Paso on November 22, 1928, to Joseph and
  Fern Fields, "Jodie" Fields graduated from Clint High School in
  1946 and went on to answer his nation's call to duty as a member of
  the U.S. Army, serving in Alaska for two years during the Korean
  War; and
         WHEREAS, After returning to civilian life, Mr. Fields
  married the former Sue Botsford, with whom he shared a rewarding
  union of nearly six decades; the couple became the proud parents of
  two children, Mike and Linda, and with the passing years, they were
  further blessed with five treasured grandchildren, Alexis,
  Kaitlyn, Lauren, Zach, and William; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Fields enjoyed a fulfilling career as a farmer
  that spanned more than a half-century, and he further distinguished
  himself through his community involvement, serving as a member of
  the board of directors of the First National Bank in Fabens and as a
  valued congregant and trustee of Bond Memorial United Methodist
  Church; and
         WHEREAS, Although Jodie Fields will be deeply missed,
  cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in
  the hearts of his family and friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jodie Fields and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Sue Fields; to his children, Mike Fields and his wife, Holly,
  and Linda Makrides and her husband, Nick; to his grandchildren,
  Alexis, Kaitlyn, and Lauren Makrides and Zach and William Fields;
  to his sister-in-law, Sally Botsford; and to his other relatives
  and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joseph
  Wallace Fields Jr.
