R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
|
passing of Joseph Wallace Fields Jr. of Clint on April 13, 2014, at |
|
|
the age of 85; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in El Paso on November 22, 1928, to Joseph and |
|
|
Fern Fields, "Jodie" Fields graduated from Clint High School in |
|
|
1946 and went on to answer his nation's call to duty as a member of |
|
|
the U.S. Army, serving in Alaska for two years during the Korean |
|
|
War; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After returning to civilian life, Mr. Fields |
|
|
married the former Sue Botsford, with whom he shared a rewarding |
|
|
union of nearly six decades; the couple became the proud parents of |
|
|
two children, Mike and Linda, and with the passing years, they were |
|
|
further blessed with five treasured grandchildren, Alexis, |
|
|
Kaitlyn, Lauren, Zach, and William; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Fields enjoyed a fulfilling career as a farmer |
|
|
that spanned more than a half-century, and he further distinguished |
|
|
himself through his community involvement, serving as a member of |
|
|
the board of directors of the First National Bank in Fabens and as a |
|
|
valued congregant and trustee of Bond Memorial United Methodist |
|
|
Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although Jodie Fields will be deeply missed, |
|
|
cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in |
|
|
the hearts of his family and friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jodie Fields and |
|
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
|
wife, Sue Fields; to his children, Mike Fields and his wife, Holly, |
|
|
and Linda Makrides and her husband, Nick; to his grandchildren, |
|
|
Alexis, Kaitlyn, and Lauren Makrides and Zach and William Fields; |
|
|
to his sister-in-law, Sally Botsford; and to his other relatives |
|
|
and many friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joseph |
|
|
Wallace Fields Jr. |
