R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Residents of El Paso County benefit each day from
  the contributions of those public servants who greatly improve the
  quality of life in their communities through the fulfillment of
  their duties; and
         WHEREAS, Sheriff Richard D. Wiles has ably guided the El Paso
  County Sheriff's Office since his election to that post in 2009; he
  previously gained valuable experience during a 25-year tenure with
  the El Paso Police Department, where he distinguished himself in
  numerous positions, including that of chief of police; and
         WHEREAS, Raised in El Paso, this esteemed law enforcement
  professional holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from The
  University of Texas at El Paso as well as a master's degree from Sul
  Ross State University; moreover, he is a graduate of the FBI
  National Academy, the FBI National Executive Institute, and the
  Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas;
  Sheriff Wiles has also shared his expertise as an instructor at El
  Paso Community College, Park University, and UTEP; and
         WHEREAS, Sheriff Wiles has demonstrated a steadfast
  commitment to making El Paso County an even better place in which to
  live and work, and in so doing, he has earned the deep respect and
  appreciation of his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor El Paso County sheriff Richard D. Wiles
  for his efforts in behalf of his community and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Sheriff Wiles as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
