R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Orlando Flores has greatly benefited the youth of
  his community during his years of service as president of the Fabens
  Independent School District Board of Trustees; and
         WHEREAS, An active volunteer and civic leader, Mr. Flores has
  coached several youth athletic teams, served as president of the
  Fabens Booster Club, and held the post of cubmaster for Cub Scout
  Pack No. 599; he has lent his expertise to the Fabens ISD Board of
  Trustees since November 2008, and along the way, he has worked
  closely with board members, parents, teachers, and other concerned
  citizens to ensure an optimal learning environment for area
  students; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Flores was a petty officer first class with the
  United States Navy and retired in March 2012, after a military
  career spanning 23 years; he received numerous awards for his
  service, including the Joint Meritorious Unit Award and the Good
  Conduct Medal, and in 2011 he was named Navy Operational Support
  Center-El Paso Sailor of the Quarter; he currently works as an
  extension agent and educator for the Texas A&M
  University--Cooperative Extension Program in the El Paso County
  office; additionally, he manages his family's farm, which raises
  alfalfa, cotton, and a variety of vegetable crops; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Flores enjoys the love and
  encouragement of his wife of 18 years, Veronica, and he is the proud
  father of Orlando, Victoria, and Violeta; and
         WHEREAS, Through his outstanding leadership and dedication
  as a school board trustee, Orlando Flores has demonstrated his
  commitment to building a bright and promising future for local
  children; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Orlando Flores for his service as
  president of the Fabens Independent School District Board of
  Trustees and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success with his important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Flores as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
