R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, For more than 80 years, the Sanchez family of El Paso
  have been among the leading custom cowboy boot makers in the nation,
  and their Champion Attitude Boots are worn by customers from all
  over the world; and
         WHEREAS, In the 1920s, Yldefonso Sanchez moved from Leon,
  Mexico, to El Paso, where he went to work at Fort Bliss as a cobbler
  alongside another boot maker, Tony Lama Sr.; in 1928, Mr. Sanchez
  opened his own business, and during the 1940s and 1950s, his son and
  daughter-in-law, Jose Lucas and Cuca Sanchez, expanded the business
  to western wear as well; the company grew to encompass six
  locations, where it pioneered the concept of "repair while you
  wait"; and
         WHEREAS, When the founder's grandson Jose Luis Sanchez joined
  the family business in the 1960s, he arranged to have the family
  subcontract to make boots for a number of other El Paso boot brands,
  including Tony Lama and Nocona; during the 1970s, the company
  opened a store on Interstate 10, selling to truck drivers and
  tourists, and it benefited as well from the renewed interest in
  cowboy boots inspired by the popular film Urban Cowboy; and
         WHEREAS, In the 1980s, a member of the fourth generation of
  the family, Joey Sanchez, along with his future wife, Priscilla,
  opened Champion Attitude Accessories, which marketed boot
  accessories; they soon began to craft more colorful and stylish
  footwear for younger customers under the name "Champion Attitude
  Boots," selling custom cowboy boots to rock-and-roll groups such as
  Kiss, Motley Crue, and Bon Jovi; and
         WHEREAS, Today, under the leadership of Joey and Priscilla
  Sanchez, the company is known as Caboots, and it markets handmade
  boots, shoes, and accessories through its website; the company is
  also known for its period reproduction boots, which have been
  featured in motion pictures such as The Pirates of the Caribbean and
  3:10 to Yuma; its footwear has also been featured in performances by
  Cirque du Soleil, the New York Metropolitan Opera, and the Chicago
  Lyric Theater; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of four generations, the Sanchez
  family and Caboots have helped to make El Paso the acknowledged
  "Cowboy Boot Capital of the World," satisfying and delighting
  customers of all ages and backgrounds with their unique custom
  creations; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the Caboots boot company on its eight
  decades of success and extend to Joey and Priscilla Sanchez and
  their employees sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Sanchez family as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
