R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Roger Garza is concluding his tenure on the
  Pleasanton City Council in 2015, after nearly two decades of
  exemplary service; and
         WHEREAS, Even before joining the city council, Mr. Garza was
  an active member of his community and launched a successful
  campaign to redraw the district boundaries in Atascosa County;
  achieving this goal inspired him to become more involved in
  government, and he was subsequently elected to represent District 5
  on the Pleasanton City Council; over the course of his 18 years in
  office, he has played a key role in a number of important
  initiatives, including cleanup efforts for the Atascosa River, the
  hiring of a firm to build a new fire station, and the planning,
  design, and approval of civic center construction; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Atascosa County, Mr. Garza
  attended Jourdanton Elementary School and continued his education
  in the Pleasanton Independent School District; after graduating
  from high school, he went on to study photography, oil painting, and
  still-life portraiture at San Antonio College, and he later became
  part of Pleasanton High School's inaugural adult computer class; in
  October 1975, this dedicated entrepreneur opened his own business,
  Pleasanton Floral Photography and Tuxedos, which he still operates
  from its original location; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Garza enjoys the love
  and support of his wife, Ann, and he takes great pride in their five
  children; and
         WHEREAS, Roger Garza has proven himself a civic leader of
  great vision and ability, and he is indeed deserving of recognition
  for his tireless efforts to make the Pleasanton area an even better
  place to live and work; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Roger Garza for his service on the
  Pleasanton City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
