R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Texas colleges and universities contribute
  immeasurably to the future of the Lone Star State, and those
  professionals who give generously of their expertise to these vital
  institutions of higher education are indeed deserving of
  recognition; and
         WHEREAS, Arvis C. Jones has served as director of student
  leadership and campus life for El Paso Community College since
  2005; she has worked tirelessly to promote the overall mission of
  the school, and she has continued to display a steadfast dedication
  to the well-being of EPCC students throughout her tenure; Ms. Jones
  has distinguished herself as a valued advisor to countless
  students, and she currently oversees the EPCC Student Government
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed woman has spearheaded a number of
  important classroom and community initiatives, including the
  development of the EPCC Leadership course and the Student
  Ambassador Program, the implementation of biannual blood drives at
  each of the school's five campuses, and successful student legacy
  projects that have led to substantial improvements to student
  facilities; moreover, she has held leadership roles with the
  Women's Fund of El Paso and the Young Women's Christian Association
  of El Paso, among others, and she has been recognized with several
  prestigious accolades, such as the NAACP Community Service Award
  and the Operation Homefront Award; and
         WHEREAS, Arvis C. Jones has greatly benefited the students of
  El Paso Community College, and in so doing, she has garnered the
  lasting respect and admiration of countless people along the way;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Arvis C. Jones for her service as director
  of student leadership and campus life at El Paso Community College
  and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her
  important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
