R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. José Espinoza can take well-deserved pride in
  the outstanding service he has rendered to the residents of his
  community during his first two and a half years as superintendent of
  the Socorro Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran educator with 16 years of experience,
  Dr. Espinoza has worked as a teacher, a counselor, an assistant
  principal, a principal, and a district administrator; he holds a
  bachelor's degree in social work and a master's degree in guidance
  and counseling from The University of Texas-Pan American and a
  doctorate in educational leadership from Sam Houston State
  University; and
         WHEREAS, During his successful tenure as principal of Burbank
  Middle School in Houston, Dr. Espinoza helped lead the campus to
  its first Texas Education Agency recognized rating, and eventually
  to a TEA exemplary rating; he was named North Region Houston ISD
  Secondary Principal of the Year in 2009, and in 2010 the district
  honored him with the ASPIRE Award; that same year, he was cited by
  the League of United Latin American Citizens as Educator of the
  Year; he has been superintendent of Socorro ISD since September
  2012; and
         WHEREAS, Through his unwavering commitment to Socorro ISD
  students and staff, Dr. José Espinoza has led the way in fostering a
  supportive and challenging educational environment, one that gives
  students a vision of what they might attain if they strive for
  success and that equips them with skills that will help them to
  build fulfilling and productive lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Dr. José Espinoza, superintendent of the
  Socorro Independent School District, for his admirable service to
  his fellow citizens and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Espinoza as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
