R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Kountze High School boys' basketball team
  enjoyed an outstanding 2014-2015 season, winning the district title
  and advancing all the way to the 3A semifinals of the University
  Interscholastic League state playoffs; and
         WHEREAS, Entering the postseason on a wave of momentum after
  winning 11 consecutive games to close out the regular season, the
  Lions began their playoff run by reeling off victories over
  Hitchcock, Palestine Westwood, Hempstead, and Rockdale High
  Schools; and
         WHEREAS, In the regional final contest, the Kountze players
  took the floor against Crockett High School and turned in a
  commanding performance, winning 89-65 to punch their ticket to the
  state tournament; there, the Lions saw their season come to an end
  in a semifinal loss to Brock High School, concluding the year with a
  record of 33 wins and 7 losses; and
         WHEREAS, Ably guided by head coach Duane Joubert and
  assistant coaches Joe Calhoun, Keithan Hancock, James Harper, and
  Travis Tates, the Lions benefited throughout the season from a true
  team effort, with valuable contributions coming from each member of
  the roster: Teran Stanford, Justin Harper, Jaydon Cunigan, Dante
  Carey, Dallion Edwards, Jeremiah Barker, Grayland Arnold, Tyrin
  Rogers, Deontra Morgan, Michael Cole, Dadrian Akbar, Henry Barnes,
  Marcus Hafford, and Vernon Thomas III; and
         WHEREAS, The talented and hardworking student-athletes of
  the Kountze High School boys' basketball team are a source of
  tremendous pride to their classmates and their many supporters in
  the local community, and their notable accomplishments on the
  hardwood are indeed deserving of special recognition; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Kountze High School boys'
  basketball team on reaching the UIL 3A state semifinals and extend
  to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
