R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Volunteers and supporters of Dress for Success |
|
|
Corpus Christi celebrated the first anniversary of its founding on |
|
|
January 29, 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dress for Success Corpus Christi works to empower |
|
|
women in the city and neighboring communities by providing them |
|
|
with professional apparel and other forms of assistance, such as |
|
|
interview training, as they seek to gain financial independence and |
|
|
a rewarding career; the group is affiliated with the global |
|
|
nonprofit Dress for Success organization, enabling its clients to |
|
|
access a broad network of valuable programs and resources; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Executive director and cofounder Cathy Colomo |
|
|
Riojas and cofounder Anna Flores have been instrumental in the |
|
|
achievements of Dress for Success Corpus Christi to date; the |
|
|
organization also benefits from the volunteers who help to |
|
|
coordinate events and from those who generously donate clothing and |
|
|
accessories; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During a promising first year, Dress for Success |
|
|
Corpus Christi has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to help |
|
|
area women reach their professional goals, and the group may take |
|
|
justifiable pride in its notable work to change many lives for the |
|
|
better; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dress for Success Corpus Christi on |
|
|
its first anniversary and extend to all who are involved with the |
|
|
organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
