R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Catholic Conference are
  gathering in Austin on March 24, 2015, to celebrate Catholic Faith
  in Action Advocacy Day at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, TCC works to foster cooperation and communication
  among the dioceses and the ministries of the Catholic Church of
  Texas, and it acts as the public policy voice of the bishops of
  Texas, who serve more than 7 million Catholic people and 15 dioceses
  statewide; and
         WHEREAS, Texans from all walks of life significantly benefit
  from the service of the Catholic Charities ministries and the
  parish-based social ministries located across the state; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to the importance of the family, Catholic
  life ministries help strengthen and nurture relationships by
  offering marriage preparation and education to engaged couples and
  marriage enrichment programs; in addition, the Respect Life program
  provides a range of services to women facing crisis pregnancies as
  well as assistance to needy families; and
         WHEREAS, An invaluable source of education, Catholic schools
  employ curricula based on faith to instruct over 80,000 Texas
  students in moral development, stewardship, altruism, and
  leadership; Catholic religious education programs also enhance the
  lives of some 384,000 children and their families; and
         WHEREAS, Catholic chaplains generously volunteer their time
  to offer pastoral care and guidance to scores of individuals
  incarcerated in our prisons and jails; and
         WHEREAS, Promoting the values of life, justice, charity, and
  religious freedom, the Catholic Faith in Action Advocacy Day
  encourages Catholics to help build a better world by becoming more
  informed and engaged citizens; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 24, 2015, as Catholic Faith in
  Action Advocacy Day and extend to all participants sincere best
  wishes for a meaningful and memorable event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Texas Catholic Conference as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
