R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Tyler County Hospital School of Vocational |
|
Nursing won the Woodville Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year |
|
Award at the annual Tyler County Chamber of Commerce Members |
|
Banquet on February 3, 2015; and |
|
WHEREAS, The school was established in 1960 to train |
|
vocational nurses, who work under the supervision of physicians and |
|
registered nurses to provide patients with supplemental care in a |
|
variety of settings; its students go on to work for local hospitals |
|
and other medical facilities, and since 1990, nearly 900 students |
|
have graduated from the school, with an average licensure rate of 90 |
|
percent over the past 10 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since 1987, the school has been headed by Eva |
|
Stanley, RN, BSN, and MSN, and its faculty includes full-time |
|
instructors Lynn Hays, RN, BSN, Tracie Kenner, RN, and Kathy Broom, |
|
RN, and part-time instructors Bonnie Owens, RN, and Alicia Havard, |
|
LVN; the school also enjoys the support of the Tyler County Hospital |
|
Foundation, which works with the hospital to provide the school |
|
with the latest technology; and |
|
WHEREAS, This unique institution is working hard to help |
|
reduce the critical shortage of well-trained nurses in the Lone |
|
Star State, and its success has contributed greatly to the quality |
|
of life in Tyler County and beyond; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Tyler County Hospital School of |
|
Vocational Nursing for receiving the Woodville Chamber of Commerce |
|
Business of the Year Award and extend to its teachers and students |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success in their important work; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
