R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Dr. Robert L. McDonald has stepped down as
  superintendent of the Dallas District Church of the Nazarene, after
  nearly a decade of dedicated service; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1955 in Knoxville, Iowa, to Frank and
  Davidene McDonald, Rob McDonald graduated from Chariton Community
  High School in 1973; he attended MidAmerica Nazarene College, where
  he earned his bachelor's degree in religion, and he later completed
  his master's degree in human relations at the University of
  Oklahoma; he was awarded a doctor of divinity degree from Southern
  Nazarene University; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. McDonald began his notable career in the
  ministry as a youth pastor at Des Moines First Church of the
  Nazarene and at First Church of the Nazarene in Sapulpa, Oklahoma,
  before serving as pastor of congregations in Oklahoma, South
  Dakota, and Illinois; he was chosen to lead the Mississippi
  District Church of the Nazarene in 2000, and five years later he
  assumed the duties of superintendent for the Dallas District Church
  of the Nazarene; and
         WHEREAS, Since 2005, Dr. McDonald has provided inspiring
  leadership and valued counsel to fellow pastors and worshippers
  across the Dallas District; a passionate advocate for Cowboy Church
  evangelism and formation, he has overseen the establishment of 10
  thriving Cowboy Church congregations during his outstanding
  tenure; upon leaving his post as district superintendent, he will
  take over as senior pastor for the Lone Star Cowboy Church of
  McLennan and Hill Counties; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed clergyman has further benefited his
  church organization as a member of the board of Southern Nazarene
  University and as a member of the District Superintendents Action
  Committee and the Nazarene Organic Church Network; in addition, he
  is the current chair of the Nazarene Cowboy Church Network; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. McDonald enjoys the love
  and support of a fine family, which includes his wife, Sue, his
  daughters, Melissa Ferrer and her husband, Mitchell, and Meagan
  Sprang and her husband, Jonathan, and his five grandchildren,
  Abigail, Isaiah, and Isaac Ferrer, and Jacob and Ezekiel Sprang;
  and
         WHEREAS, Rob McDonald has worked diligently in behalf of his
  faith, providing comfort and spiritual guidance, while proving
  himself to be a wise and trusted leader, and he is indeed deserving
  of special recognition as he begins his new mission of pastoral
  service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Dr. Robert McDonald on his achievements
  as superintendent of the Dallas District Church of the Nazarene and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. McDonald as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
