R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Gruver High School girls' basketball team
  enjoyed an outstanding 2014-2015 season, advancing all the way to
  the University Interscholastic League 2A state championship game on
  March 7, 2015, at the Alamodome in San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, The Lady Greyhounds compiled a stellar overall
  record of 31 wins and just 6 defeats, and they qualified for the
  state tournament for only the second time in school history; the
  team began its thrilling postseason run with commanding victories
  over Shamrock and Abernathy High Schools, and the team followed
  those performances with hard-fought wins over previously
  undefeated squads from Wellington and Christoval High Schools; and
         WHEREAS, Matching up with Canadian High School in the
  regional finals, the Lady Hounds withstood a late rally to triumph
  over their district rival by a score of 39-34, securing the Region
  1-2A crown and punching their ticket to the state tournament; and
         WHEREAS, Gruver faced off against Weimar High School in the
  state semifinals, and the two squads fought to a stalemate at the
  end of regulation; with the team clinging to a one-point lead late
  in the overtime period, Lady Greyhound player Reagan Haynes
  intercepted a pass and then made two clutch free throws to clinch a
  51-48 victory and a berth in the state finals; there, the Gruver
  athletes put up a determined effort but ultimately fell to Martin's
  Mill High School to bring their memorable season to a close; and
         WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Trent Lankford and assistant
  coaches Bekah Morrison, Terry Davis, and Tori Skarke, the Lady
  Hounds received essential contributions throughout the season from
  each member of the team; in addition to Ms. Haynes, the roster
  includes Brennyn Seagler, Michaela Davis, Kennedy King, Klaire
  Irwin, Bailey Stedje, Sarah Jackson, Kennedy Venneman, Patty
  Garcia, Kailey Whitehead, Hadlee Spivey, Christina Ayala, Landry
  Davis, Klaire King, and Mattie Mayfield; and
         WHEREAS, The dedicated members of the Gruver High School
  girls' basketball team proved themselves one of the top 2A squads in
  Texas during the 2014-2015 campaign, and they may reflect with
  pride on their notable accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Gruver High School girls'
  basketball team on its successful season and extend to the team's
  players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
