R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The D'Hanis High School girls' basketball team
  enjoyed an exceptional 2014-2015 season, advancing all the way to
  the semifinals of the University Interscholastic League 1A state
  playoffs; and
         WHEREAS, After claiming the District 31 title with their
  stellar play against their league rivals, the Cowgirls started the
  postseason with a dominating victory over Burton High School in the
  area round and followed that performance with an exciting,
  last-second win against Goodrich High School in the regional
  quarterfinals; D'Hanis then topped Jonesboro High School in another
  hard-fought game by a score of 39-35 to keep its thrilling playoff
  run alive; and
         WHEREAS, The Cowgirls proved up to the task once more in a
  48-46 triumph over Coolidge High School in the regional finals,
  storming back from a fourth quarter deficit to clinch the Region 4
  crown and secure the second state tournament berth in school
  history and the first since 1979; in its semifinal game, D'Hanis put
  up a determined effort, but ultimately lost to Nazareth High School
  to bring a memorable season to a close; and
         WHEREAS, Ably guided by head coach Fred McCollum and
  assistant coach Todd Craft, the Cowgirls benefited from the vital
  contributions made throughout the year by each member of the team:
  Crysta Salazar, Jacie Henefey, Sarah Craft, Elisa Nolasco, Morgan
  Lynch, Ashley Philipp, Mallory McCollum, and Shelby Gayre;
  additional assistance was provided by managers Hallie Lynch and
  Jahnelin Costa; and
         WHEREAS, The members of the Cowgirls basketball team have
  become a source of tremendous pride to their many supporters in the
  local community, and the hard work and dedication they have
  demonstrated will continue to serve them well in the years to come;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the D'Hanis High School girls'
  basketball team on its success during the 2014-2015 season and
  extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for continued achievement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
