R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Officer Joseph L. Moon of the Corpus Christi Police
  Department lost his life in the line of duty on June 10, 1938, and
  his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, A motorcycle traffic officer who had served the
  department for one year, Officer Moon was in pursuit of a speeding
  motorist on Timon Boulevard in northeastern Corpus Christi on June
  7, 1938, when he struck a curb and suffered severe abdominal
  injuries; he underwent surgery but passed away a few days later; at
  the time of his death, Officer Moon was survived by his wife and two
  children; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the
  courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as
  Officer Moon, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each day
  to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of
  Officer Joseph L. Moon of the Corpus Christi Police Department.
