R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer Joseph L. Moon of the Corpus Christi Police |
|
Department lost his life in the line of duty on June 10, 1938, and |
|
his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and |
|
WHEREAS, A motorcycle traffic officer who had served the |
|
department for one year, Officer Moon was in pursuit of a speeding |
|
motorist on Timon Boulevard in northeastern Corpus Christi on June |
|
7, 1938, when he struck a curb and suffered severe abdominal |
|
injuries; he underwent surgery but passed away a few days later; at |
|
the time of his death, Officer Moon was survived by his wife and two |
|
children; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |
|
courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |
|
Officer Moon, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each day |
|
to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of |
|
Officer Joseph L. Moon of the Corpus Christi Police Department. |
