R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Senior Officer Juan Rincon Prieto of the Corpus |
|
|
Christi Police Department lost his life in the line of duty on |
|
|
February 2, 1993, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be |
|
|
forgotten; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An officer with 27 years of experience in the Corpus |
|
|
Christi Police Department, Officer Prieto was directing traffic at |
|
|
Up River and Suntide Roads when he was struck and killed by a pickup |
|
|
truck; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Officer Prieto was |
|
|
survived by a wife, two sons, and two daughters; the legacy of this |
|
|
dedicated public servant was honored in the community he so ably |
|
|
served with a park that was named in his memory; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |
|
|
courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |
|
|
Officer Prieto, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each |
|
|
day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of |
|
|
Senior Officer Juan Rincon Prieto of the Corpus Christi Police |
|
|
Department. |
