R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant Ruben Almanza of the Corpus Christi Police |
|
Department lost his life in the line of duty on July 28, 1984, and |
|
his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ruben Almanza was a member of the CCPD for nearly |
|
nine years; assigned to the narcotics division, he was shot while |
|
pursuing armed robbery suspects and later died at a local hospital; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Sergeant Almanza was |
|
survived by his wife, Irma, and their three daughters, Melissa, |
|
Jennifer, and Tina; the legacy of this dedicated public servant was |
|
honored by his family and LULAC Council No. 1 with a scholarship |
|
named in his memory; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |
|
courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |
|
Sergeant Almanza, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each |
|
day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of |
|
Sergeant Ruben Almanza of the Corpus Christi Police Department. |
