R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant Joseph Daniel Bock of the Corpus Christi |
|
Police Department lost his life in the line of duty on September 9, |
|
1987, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and |
|
WHEREAS, A 13-year veteran of the CCPD, Sergeant Bock was |
|
involved in a 10-mile pursuit of a suspect who refused to yield for |
|
a traffic stop; after crashing his vehicle, the violator, who was |
|
later found to have been involved in a burglary, attacked Sergeant |
|
Bock, fatally shooting him; and |
|
WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Sergeant Bock was |
|
survived by his wife and two daughters; the legacy of this dedicated |
|
public servant was honored by the community he so ably served with a |
|
park that was named in his memory; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |
|
courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |
|
Sergeant Bock, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each |
|
day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of |
|
Sergeant Joseph Daniel Bock of the Corpus Christi Police |
|
Department. |
