R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Joseph Daniel Bock of the Corpus Christi
  Police Department lost his life in the line of duty on September 9,
  1987, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, A 13-year veteran of the CCPD, Sergeant Bock was
  involved in a 10-mile pursuit of a suspect who refused to yield for
  a traffic stop; after crashing his vehicle, the violator, who was
  later found to have been involved in a burglary, attacked Sergeant
  Bock, fatally shooting him; and
         WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Sergeant Bock was
  survived by his wife and two daughters; the legacy of this dedicated
  public servant was honored by the community he so ably served with a
  park that was named in his memory; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the
  courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as
  Sergeant Bock, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each
  day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of
  Sergeant Joseph Daniel Bock of the Corpus Christi Police
  Department.
