R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Representatives of the City of Plano, the Plano
  Chamber of Commerce, and the Plano Independent School District are
  visiting Austin on March 31 and April 1, 2015, to take part in Plano
  Legislative Days at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Boasting a population of nearly 275,000, this
  self-styled City of Excellence has garnered multiple accolades in
  recent years for its prosperity and quality of life; in 2014, it was
  ranked as the third best-run city in America by USA Today and the
  24/7 Wall Street online financial news service, while Time magazine
  cited it as one of the 10 healthiest places to live in America;
  Movoto Real Estate and Research has named Plano as the safest city
  with a population over 250,000 and as the fourth-safest city
  overall, and the WalletHub consumer networking site rated it No. 1
  on its 2014 list of the best cities for families; and
         WHEREAS, Contributing greatly to the city's success is the
  Plano Chamber of Commerce, which is committed to maximizing
  business development and economic growth through advocacy,
  education, innovation, and collaboration; the chamber has helped to
  make Plano home to many leading global corporations, including six
  Fortune 1000 companies, by promoting the city's outstanding
  workforce, competitive business climate, world-class business
  parks, and accessibility; its efforts have earned the Plano Chamber
  a 5-star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, placing
  it among the top one percent of chambers of commerce in the nation;
  and
         WHEREAS, The Plano Independent School District is likewise
  benefiting the city and area residents, with the 6,700 members of
  its faculty and staff working to prepare the district's 55,000
  students for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; the
  teachers of Plano ISD average more than 11 years of experience, and
  more than a third of them hold master's degrees; with a graduation
  rate close to 96 percent, Plano ISD is one of a select few districts
  in the United States and Canada that have been named to the annual
  Advanced Placement District Honor Roll, and 23 of its schools have
  been named Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence by the U.S. Department
  of Education; the district has also been named one of the 100 best
  in the nation in music education by several national surveys, and in
  2014, 78 of the district's students were National Merit Scholarship
  semifinalists; and
         WHEREAS, A true Lone Star success story, Plano's reputation
  as a wonderful city in which to work, play, and raise a family grows
  every day, and the City of Plano, the Plano Chamber of Commerce, and
  the Plano Independent School District are helping to build an even
  brighter and more prosperous future for their thriving community;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 31 and April 1, 2015, as Plano
  Legislative Days at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting
  delegation sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable
  stay in Austin.
