R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Christian Lewis and Brett May of West Hardin High |
|
|
School in Saratoga became a source of pride for their school and |
|
|
community with their performance at the University Interscholastic |
|
|
League 2A Cross-Examination Debate State Meet held on March 16 and |
|
|
17, 2015, at The University of Texas at Austin; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis and Mr. May eclipsed their opponents in |
|
|
district cross-examination debates to qualify for the state |
|
|
tournament; there, the partners debated the resolution "The United |
|
|
States federal government should substantially increase its |
|
|
non-military exploration and/or development of the Earth's oceans" |
|
|
and made an impressive showing by advancing to the octafinals; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These outstanding young Texans have demonstrated |
|
|
tremendous skill in the art of debate and public speaking, and |
|
|
through their talent and commitment to excellence, they have |
|
|
brought great distinction to themselves and to West Hardin High |
|
|
School; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Christian Lewis and Brett May on |
|
|
their performance at the UIL 2A Cross-Examination Debate State Meet |
|
|
and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success and a |
|
|
bright future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
|
for Mr. Lewis and Mr. May as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
