R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Stingers team of Horizon Heights Elementary |
|
School in Horizon City received first place in the regional |
|
Destination Imagination competition on February 28, 2015, earning |
|
the right to proceed to the state tournament; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since 1999, Destination Imagination has encouraged |
|
students to reach creative, collaborative solutions through |
|
diverse approaches; teams discover how to focus, frame challenges, |
|
and take risks while developing patience, flexibility, |
|
persistence, ethics, and respect for others; moreover, they gain |
|
skills in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the |
|
arts, among other disciplines; and |
|
WHEREAS, Guided by team sponsors Linda Hitter and Lori |
|
Berumen, the Stingers took top honors in the "Fine Arts--Feary |
|
Tales" category for their performance of "The Princess of Walalo"; |
|
the team's six outstanding members are students in grades 3-5; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Stingers worked diligently to prepare for this |
|
exciting competition, and their first-place finish is a source of |
|
great pride to their teachers and classmates; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Stingers team of Horizon |
|
Heights Elementary School on winning first place in the regional |
|
Destination Imagination competition and extend to the members |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
