R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The 103rd birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |
|
|
cause for celebration, and World War II veteran Leon Evans of |
|
|
Trinity is marking this special milestone in his life on April 11, |
|
|
2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1912, Mr. Evans came of age during the war |
|
|
and served his country in the United States Army Air Forces as a |
|
|
mechanic from 1942 to 1945; he went through basic training at Dale |
|
|
Mabry Army Air Base in Tallahassee, Florida, and at a base in South |
|
|
Carolina, and he was stationed in New Guinea; as he likes to say, |
|
|
his service lasted exactly three years, three months, and eight |
|
|
days; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, Mr. Evans remains in good health, and he can |
|
|
be seen driving his pickup truck around town; every week, he |
|
|
generously mows the lawn for the Presbyterian Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A respected member of the community, Leon Evans is a |
|
|
source of tremendous inspiration, and in sharing the experience |
|
|
gained through more than a century of life well lived, he bestows a |
|
|
precious gift of wisdom that benefits all who are fortunate enough |
|
|
to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Leon Evans on his 103rd birthday |
|
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Evans as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
