R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Monsignor Leo Wleczyk of St. Michael the Archangel
  Catholic Church in Lake Jackson is marking the 50th anniversary of
  his ordination on May 27, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, A native of the Brazosport area, Leo Wleczyk
  attended St. Mary's Seminary and began his parish service at
  St. Mary Catholic Church in Port Arthur; he subsequently served at
  St. Patrick Catholic Church in Galveston, St. Joseph Catholic
  Church in Baytown, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palestine, and
  Notre Dame Catholic Church in Houston before becoming monsignor and
  pastor of St. Michael's in 1984; and
         WHEREAS, This dedicated clergyman has implemented many
  programs for spiritual enrichment at St. Michael's, among them
  RENEW, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, the youth
  ministry, and ENVISION; in addition, he has guided the expansion of
  facilities to meet the changing needs of the parish; a new education
  wing and nursery were constructed in 1985, and subsequent
  improvements, including the Family Life Center, provided space for
  the Boy Scouts, Knights of Columbus, and St. Vincent de Paul; in
  2000, the two-story Spiritual Learning Center was completed; and
         WHEREAS, For over 20 years, Monsignor Wleczyk was dean of the
  Southern Deanery, and in 2008, he was appointed episcopal vicar for
  the Southern Vicariate by Daniel Cardinal DiNardo to serve as his
  representative for approximately 30 parishes; he also benefits the
  wider community as an active member of the Brazosport Ministerial
  Alliance, and he is an ardent supporter of religious vocations and
  the pro-life ministry; and
         WHEREAS, Monsignor Wleczyk has wholeheartedly committed his
  talents and energies to serving the parish of St. Michael the
  Archangel Catholic Church, and his leadership over the past 50
  years has provided inspiration and guidance to many in his
  community of faith; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Monsignor Leo Wleczyk on the joyous
  occasion of the 50th anniversary of his ordination and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Monsignor Wleczyk as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
