R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Beatrice Trevino has been elected commander of the |
|
Charles Dixon American Legion Post No. 241 in Angleton; and |
|
WHEREAS, The first woman to lead this post, Bea Trevino |
|
served her country in the United States Army and Army National Guard |
|
for 21 years and received numerous awards; her tours of duty |
|
included assignments in Bosnia and Germany, and she was deployed |
|
during Desert Storm; over the course of 11 years as a member of Post |
|
No. 241, she has served as house committee chair, adjutant, |
|
historian, and first vice commander; she represents the |
|
organization in the Angleton Chamber of Commerce; and |
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan also belongs to the American |
|
Legion Auxiliary, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the local |
|
chapter of the Disabled American Veterans; within the American |
|
Legion, Department of Texas, she has served as historian for the |
|
Third Division and as a member of the Ninth District Color Guard; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Since her retirement from the armed forces, |
|
Ms. Trevino has worked with such nonprofit organizations as the |
|
Brazoria County Alliance for Children and the Children's Advocacy |
|
Center of Brazoria County; she is a graduate of the Angleton Police |
|
Department's Citizen Police Academy, and she has participated in |
|
the activities of its alumni association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bea Trevino has given generously of her time and |
|
talents in behalf of her fellow veterans and the citizens of |
|
Angleton, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition at |
|
this time; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Beatrice Trevino on her election as |
|
commander of Charles Dixon Post No. 241 of the American Legion and |
|
that she be extended sincere best wishes for continued success in |
|
all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Trevino as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
