R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Karen Nykorchuk McCaleb of Texas A&M |
|
|
University--Corpus Christi has won distinction for herself through |
|
|
her induction into the Texas A&M University System Chancellor's |
|
|
Academy of Teacher Educators in 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Chancellor's Academy recognizes educators from |
|
|
the university system who have made significant contributions to |
|
|
the field of teacher education in the Lone Star State; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. McCaleb earned her bachelor's degree in |
|
|
elementary education from Framingham State University and her |
|
|
master's degree in moderate special education from Westfield State |
|
|
University, and she holds an Ed.D. degree in special education with |
|
|
an emphasis in severe and profound disabilities from the University |
|
|
of Northern Colorado; she also earned her certification in |
|
|
assistive technology from the University of Colorado at Denver |
|
|
Health Sciences Center; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This dedicated educator has considerable classroom |
|
|
experience teaching students with disabilities in a variety of |
|
|
settings, from residential to fully inclusive schools; since 1999, |
|
|
she has taught undergraduate and graduate education students in the |
|
|
field of severe and profound disabilities; she was the training and |
|
|
curriculum coordinator for the National Center on Low-Incidence |
|
|
Disabilities before accepting a position at West Texas A&M |
|
|
University, and she joined the faculty at Texas A&M |
|
|
University--Corpus Christi in 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With skill, expertise, and enthusiasm, Dr. McCaleb |
|
|
trains the K-12 teachers who will in turn help the students of Texas |
|
|
meet the challenges and opportunities of the future, and she is |
|
|
truly deserving of this prestigious professional award; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Karen Nykorchuk McCaleb on |
|
|
being named a 2015 inductee of the Texas A&M University System |
|
|
Chancellor's Academy of Teacher Educators and extend to her sincere |
|
|
best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. McCaleb as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
