R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Theater Arts students from Tuloso-Midway Middle |
|
|
School took home the first-place prize in the University |
|
|
Interscholastic League One-Act Play district competition in March |
|
|
2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These talented young Texans staged I Never Saw |
|
|
Another Butterfly by Celeste Raspanti, and the company impressed |
|
|
the judges with their passionate performance of the story of a young |
|
|
girl's struggle to survive the Holocaust; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to taking the top prize, cast members |
|
|
received a number of additional honors: Abigail de Leon was named |
|
|
Best Actress, the All Star Cast award went to Kelsey Pierce, Cara |
|
|
Dorman, Megan Garcia, and Victor Castillo, Robert Contreras |
|
|
received a technical award, and honorable mentions were given to |
|
|
Emiliano Flores, Jacy Turner, Brandon Kelly, Tara Houlihan, and |
|
|
Mallory Wilcox; the group was ably led by directors Lyn Esquivel and |
|
|
Curtis Ashby; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Winning a district championship requires countless |
|
|
hours of rehearsal and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and |
|
|
these Tuloso-Midway students may take well-deserved satisfaction |
|
|
in this outstanding accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Tuloso-Midway Middle School |
|
|
Theater Arts students on winning first place in the UIL One-Act Play |
|
|
district competition and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the students as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
