R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Patricia Rodarte of El Paso has been awarded a
  $20,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1989, the Coca-Cola Scholars
  Foundation provides a select group of high school seniors with
  awards each year; honorees are chosen based on their educational
  accomplishments, leadership abilities, and service to their
  communities; out of more than 100,000 applicants from across the
  nation, only 150 finalists were named 2015 Coca-Cola Scholars; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Rodarte is ranked first in her class of
  approximately 300 seniors at Riverside High School, where she
  participates in band and student council, competes in the Academic
  Decathlon, and serves as a tutor; in 2014, she was one of 72 high
  school seniors chosen to attend a prestigious summer program at the
  Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her academic endeavors, Ms. Rodarte
  is an active member of her church, and she has participated in local
  food drives to help underserved families in nearby Juárez, Mexico;
  she also enjoys spending time with her family and friends and
  supporting her school at athletic events; and
         WHEREAS, A truly outstanding Texan, Patricia Rodarte is well
  prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,
  and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her
  achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Patricia Rodarte on receiving a
  $20,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Rodarte as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
