R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce and the |
|
Tuesday Forum are visiting the State Capitol on April 7, 2015; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1919, the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce is |
|
dedicated to the betterment of the community, and since the |
|
chamber's inception, it has been involved in a host of development |
|
initiatives; it began by promoting the construction of good |
|
highways, including U.S. Highway 67 and what is now State Highway |
|
171, and in its inaugural year, it underwrote half the salary of the |
|
county agricultural extension agent; and |
|
WHEREAS, The chamber has grown to become the largest in |
|
Johnson County, with more than 960 members, and it represents 750 |
|
businesses; to better serve the area's dominant economic sectors, |
|
it has developed especially broad expertise in agriculture and |
|
industry; and |
|
WHEREAS, For more than 30 years, the Tuesday Forum has |
|
provided a monthly venue for the nonpartisan discussion of civic |
|
matters; the members are business and professional men and women |
|
committed to meeting the challenges that face the community, and |
|
the group invites speakers to address a variety of contemporary |
|
topics; and |
|
WHEREAS, The public-spirited members of the Cleburne Chamber |
|
of Commerce and the Tuesday Forum are contributing to the |
|
prosperity and vitality of their community, and it is a privilege to |
|
recognize them for their outstanding civic engagement; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby welcome members of the Cleburne Chamber of |
|
Commerce and the Tuesday Forum to the State Capitol and extend to |
|
them sincere best wishes for a productive and enjoyable visit; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for each organization as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
