R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Amber Litchfield of Livingston has received a |
|
President's Volunteer Service Award in recognition of her efforts |
|
to support U.S. military personnel abroad; and |
|
WHEREAS, The President's Volunteer Service Award honors |
|
Americans of all ages who have contributed a significant number of |
|
service hours over the course of a year; winners collect a |
|
personalized certificate, an official pin, medallion, or coin, and |
|
a congratulatory letter from the president of the United States; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, A senior at Livingston High School, Ms. Litchfield |
|
has volunteered more than 100 hours through the Hugh O'Brian Youth |
|
Leadership program; she donated her time with Families and |
|
Individuals Thanking Heroes (F.A.I.T.H.), a local nonprofit that |
|
sends care packages to members of the armed forces who are stationed |
|
overseas; in addition to her community service, she has |
|
participated in the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program |
|
for four years; she plays the trombone in the Royal Brigade Band as |
|
well as the jazz band and competes at University Interscholastic |
|
League academic meets; and |
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has demonstrated |
|
remarkable initiative, compassion, and dedication, and she is a |
|
source of great pride to her family and community; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Amber Litchfield on her receipt of |
|
a President's Volunteer Service Award and extend to her sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Litchfield as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
