R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The McGregor High School freshman football team |
|
captured the district championship with a victory over the squad |
|
from Glen Rose High School at Bulldog Stadium on November 6, 2014; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, In an exciting contest, the Bulldogs rallied from an |
|
early deficit to tie the score at 8-8 going into the half; in the |
|
third quarter, the McGregor defense forced a safety to take the |
|
lead, and in the fourth, a six-yard touchdown run by Tayvon Thompson |
|
followed by a two-point conversion put the Bulldogs firmly in |
|
control; the team then held off a late Glen Rose surge to win by a |
|
score of 18-16; and |
|
WHEREAS, Under the guidance of head coach Chris Kuhl, |
|
McGregor finished the season with a record of eight wins to just two |
|
defeats, receiving valuable contributions from each member of the |
|
roster along the way; and |
|
WHEREAS, The hard work and determination of these talented |
|
student-athletes have been justly rewarded with a district crown, |
|
and they may indeed reflect with pride on their notable |
|
accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the McGregor High School freshman |
|
football team on winning the 2014 district championship and extend |
|
to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
