R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of the Robstown Area Development
  Commission are marking the organization's 20th anniversary in 2015;
  and
         WHEREAS, In October 1995, the Robstown Economic Development
  Commission and the city's chamber of commerce merged to form the
  Robstown Area Development Commission (RADC), a nonprofit
  corporation dedicated to promoting economic growth and stability in
  the region; the commission is led by 5 public directors and 14
  directors elected from among its general membership; and
         WHEREAS, The RADC has several standing committees that carry
  out the commission's goals: the Economic and Community Development
  Committee strives to attract new businesses, assists with
  development projects, and maintains a business retention and
  expansion program; responsible for functions typically provided by
  a chamber of commerce, the Membership Services and Programs
  Committee explores ways to cultivate and retain members and holds
  ribbon cuttings to welcome new businesses; the Legislative Affairs
  Committee coordinates with the local, county, state, and federal
  governments, secures grants for the community, and works on
  transportation and infrastructure issues; and
         WHEREAS, Furthermore, the RADC encourages patronage of local
  motels and restaurants and hosts several community events that
  bring visitors to the Robstown area, including Cottonfest, the
  Nueces County Junior Livestock Show, and the Christmas Lights
  Parade; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to enhancing the business environment and
  the quality of life in northwestern Nueces County, the Robstown
  Area Development Commission contributes to its community in myriad
  ways, and the outstanding organization indeed merits special
  recognition for its achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Robstown
  Area Development Commission and extend to its members sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the commission as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
