R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Eugene Mallory of Mineola on August 26, 2014, at the age
  of 89; and
         WHEREAS, Gene Mallory was born on May 2, 1925, and after the
  death of his parents, he was raised by his grandmother, Lula, and
  his aunt, Ruth; following his graduation from high school, he
  enrolled at Southern Methodist University, but when World War II
  intervened, he left school to join the United States Army Air Corps
  and was deployed to Central Europe; he went on to resume his studies
  at SMU and earned a degree in business in 1948; and
         WHEREAS, During the Korean War, Mr. Mallory was again called
  to serve his nation in the air force, and on completing his
  enlistment, he returned to Mineola and began working as the
  secretary-treasurer for Benham & Company; in 1958, he was named the
  Mineola postmaster, a position he held for four years; he was
  subsequently rehired by Benham & Company, where he remained until
  his retirement in 1985; and
         WHEREAS, This lifelong Texan was active with a multitude of
  civic groups in his community, contributing his talents as
  secretary to the Mineola Memorial Library Board, the Mineola
  Heritage Association, the Mineola Country Club, and the local
  Rotary Club; additionally, he spent time as the Republican county
  chair and president of the Tyler Camellia Society, and the Mineola
  Historical Museum Board and the town's zoning board also benefited
  from his membership; as a valued congregant at St. Dunstan's
  Episcopal Church for many years, he taught Sunday school classes
  and also served as a junior warden; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Mallory enjoyed the
  support and affection of his wife, Lou, and he was the proud father
  of two children, Bill and Mary; and
         WHEREAS, Although Gene Mallory will be deeply missed,
  cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in
  the hearts of his loved ones; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature pay tribute to the memory of Eugene Mallory and extend
  sincere sympathy to his wife, Lou Mallory, to his daughter, Mary
  Mallory, and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Eugene
  Mallory.
