R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson Coulter announced his retirement from
  the Guthrie Common School District in February 2015, having
  rendered outstanding service to area students over the course of
  his distinguished tenure; and
         WHEREAS, During his six years as superintendent of Guthrie
  CSD, Dr. Coulter guided the district through a period of positive
  growth while fostering a culture of learning and forward thinking;
  he has overseen a number of significant developments, including a
  greater emphasis on technology and a holistic approach to education
  that extends beyond academics to encompass the overall health of
  students; in addition, he instituted a new meal plan in the
  district's cafeterias in order to provide for better food options
  and to improve student outcomes in the classroom; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed administrator previously served as a
  teacher and coach for the Jayton-Girard, Haskell, Rankin, Robert
  Lee, Round Rock, and Pflugerville school districts; Dr. Coulter
  also taught graduate studies at Wayland Baptist University, and he
  continues to serve as a lecturer in the College of Education for The
  University of Texas at Austin; and
         WHEREAS, In retirement, Dr. Coulter looks forward to
  spending more time with his wife on their ranch, where he hopes to
  produce enough meat and produce to fulfill all of his family's
  dietary needs; and
         WHEREAS, The Guthrie Common School District has benefited
  immeasurably from Dr. Coulter's visionary leadership and his
  commitment to the well-being of students, and he may indeed reflect
  with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Nelson Coulter on his
  retirement as superintendent of the Guthrie Common School District
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Coulter as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
