R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Texas Tech University baseball team enjoyed an
  exceptional 2014 season, reaching the NCAA Men's College World
  Series for the first time; and
         WHEREAS, The 2014 Red Raiders completed the biggest
  turnaround season in program history, finishing the year with 45
  wins, 19 more than the previous year; in the process, the team tied
  the school record for home victories, including 16 in a row to wrap
  up regular-season play, the longest such streak in the nation; and
         WHEREAS, The Red Raiders' accomplishments during the regular
  season earned the team a trip to Coral Gables, Florida, to compete
  in the regional round of the NCAA Tournament; there, they defeated
  Columbia University by a score of 3-2 and then bested the University
  of Miami in a hard-fought three-game series to advance to the super
  regionals; and
         WHEREAS, Hosting the squad from the College of Charleston at
  Rip Griffin Park in Lubbock, Tech benefited from a dominant Game 1
  pitching performance from Chris Sadberry, who tossed a four-hit
  shutout to lead Tech to a 1-0 victory; the team proved up to the task
  once more in Game 2, as freshman Dylan Dusek threw five scoreless
  innings and Adam Kirsch knocked in the game's only run to key a 1-0
  triumph; the win clinched the school's first-ever berth in the
  College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, where they went on to
  contend for college baseball's top prize; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout their run to Omaha, the Red Raiders
  relied on the leadership and guidance of second-year head coach Tim
  Tadlock; this esteemed mentor was recognized for his essential role
  in the Raiders' resurgent 2014 campaign when he was named the Skip
  Bertman National Coach of the Year by the National College Baseball
  Hall of Fame; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating tremendous skill and dedication, the
  2014 Texas Tech baseball players established a new standard of
  success for future Red Raider teams to aspire to, and they may
  indeed reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Texas Tech University baseball
  team on its outstanding 2014 season and extend to the team's
  players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued
  achievement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
