R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Nueces County Coalition for Crime Victims' |
|
Rights is hosting the 18th annual Corpus Christi observance of |
|
National Crime Victims' Rights Week from April 19 through 25, 2015; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the United States Department of Justice |
|
Office for Victims of Crime, this important national event was |
|
established to empower victims by making them aware of community |
|
support and by fostering an atmosphere in which they feel safer and |
|
more capable of reaching out for assistance; the weeklong |
|
activities encourage citizens to listen to crime victims who come |
|
forward and to aid in their journey to healing; and |
|
WHEREAS, The theme for the 2015 observance is "Engaging |
|
Communities, Empowering Victims," and the Nueces County Coalition |
|
is hosting a variety of events to more closely involve community |
|
leaders, organizations, and concerned citizens; by increasing |
|
coordination with local partners, professionals in victim services |
|
and in the criminal justice system are better able to measure the |
|
impact of crime and find ways to meet the needs of underserved |
|
victims; and |
|
WHEREAS, The participants in National Crime Victims' Rights |
|
Week are committed to helping others rebuild their lives in the wake |
|
of criminal acts, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity |
|
to recognize the courage of survivors and the dedication and |
|
compassion of those who work in their behalf; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 2015 National Crime Victims' |
|
Rights Week observance in Corpus Christi and extend to all those |
|
involved in this event sincere appreciation for their endeavors. |
