R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Nueces County Coalition for Crime Victims'
  Rights is hosting the 18th annual Corpus Christi observance of
  National Crime Victims' Rights Week from April 19 through 25, 2015;
  and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by the United States Department of Justice
  Office for Victims of Crime, this important national event was
  established to empower victims by making them aware of community
  support and by fostering an atmosphere in which they feel safer and
  more capable of reaching out for assistance; the weeklong
  activities encourage citizens to listen to crime victims who come
  forward and to aid in their journey to healing; and
         WHEREAS, The theme for the 2015 observance is "Engaging
  Communities, Empowering Victims," and the Nueces County Coalition
  is hosting a variety of events to more closely involve community
  leaders, organizations, and concerned citizens; by increasing
  coordination with local partners, professionals in victim services
  and in the criminal justice system are better able to measure the
  impact of crime and find ways to meet the needs of underserved
  victims; and
         WHEREAS, The participants in National Crime Victims' Rights
  Week are committed to helping others rebuild their lives in the wake
  of criminal acts, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity
  to recognize the courage of survivors and the dedication and
  compassion of those who work in their behalf; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 2015 National Crime Victims'
  Rights Week observance in Corpus Christi and extend to all those
  involved in this event sincere appreciation for their endeavors.
