R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
|
passing of Odessa Davis Yeager on March 6, 2015, at the age of 91; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The former Odessa Davis was born on June 4, 1923, to |
|
|
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Davis in Hunt County; she married the love of |
|
|
her life, John Yeager, and they became the proud parents of a |
|
|
daughter, Toinette; over the years, her family grew to include four |
|
|
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with whom Mrs. Yeager |
|
|
shared many treasured moments; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A resident of Mineola for nearly six decades, |
|
|
Mrs. Yeager was employed as the registrar of Mineola High School |
|
|
for 20 years, and she operated her own dress shop for 14 years; she |
|
|
also served as the secretary for First United Methodist Church, |
|
|
where she was a valued congregant and where she chaired numerous |
|
|
church committees; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Deeply concerned for the welfare of others, |
|
|
Mrs. Yeager gave generously of her time and talents as a 33-year |
|
|
member of the Pilot Club and as a cofounder and longtime board |
|
|
member of both the Caring and Sharing program and the Kindness |
|
|
Kottage resale shop; she also held membership for several years in |
|
|
the Mineola Chamber of Commerce; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Odessa Yeager was deeply devoted to her family, her |
|
|
faith, and her community, and she will forever be remembered with |
|
|
deep affection by all who held her close to their hearts; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Odessa Davis Yeager |
|
|
and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|
|
daughter, Toinette Collier, and her husband, Ed; to her |
|
|
grandchildren, Davin Smith, David and Chris Collier, and Dara |
|
|
Culver; to her great-grandchildren, Blayne, Aiden, and Cheyenna |
|
|
Smith, Tristan Randolph, and Holly Culver; to her sisters, Dorothy |
|
|
Day and Ida Shields; to her sister-in-law, Marie Davis; and to her |
|
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Odessa |
|
|
Davis Yeager. |
