R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may |
|
|
comfort those saddened by the passing of Edward Andrew Bennett Jr. |
|
|
of Holly Lake Ranch on January 8, 2015, at the age of 82; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born on Valentine's Day 1932 in San Antonio, Ed |
|
|
Bennett was the only child of Edward Bennett Sr. and Louise LaFitte |
|
|
Bennett; he moved with his family to Houston and later to Waco, |
|
|
where he graduated from high school in 1949; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A registered professional engineer, Mr. Bennett |
|
|
received a degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M |
|
|
University in 1953 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army artillery |
|
|
before earning his master's degree in Austin; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Bennett enjoyed a notable career as GSI's |
|
|
manager for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East before serving as |
|
|
president of GEO Space in Houston; he retired following 25 years as |
|
|
owner and operator of Texas Air Management, an HVAC contracting |
|
|
company; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in his community, this esteemed gentleman |
|
|
served as a trustee for the Harmony Independent School District, |
|
|
Lamb & Lion Ministries, and Holly Tree Chapel, where he and his |
|
|
family were longtime congregants; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although Ed Bennett will be deeply missed, cherished |
|
|
memories of time spent in his company will long endure in the hearts |
|
|
of his family and friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Edward Andrew Bennett |
|
|
Jr. and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to |
|
|
his wife of 40 years, Bettysu Longley Bennett; to his daughter, |
|
|
Jacqueline Bennett; to his son, Brent Northcutt, and his wife, |
|
|
Michelle; to his granddaughters, Madison Marie and Morgan Marie |
|
|
Northcutt; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Edward |
|
|
Andrew Bennett Jr. |
