WHEREAS, Proud residents of Prosper are gathering for the
Party at the Park on April 18, 2015, to close out their yearlong
  celebration of the 100th anniversary of the city's incorporation;
  and
WHEREAS, Prosper traces its origins to 1902, when the
location began serving as the central stop between Dallas and
Sherman on the St. Louis, San Francisco and Texas Railway; the
establishment of the train station encouraged the towns of Rock
Hill and Richland to merge to form the new settlement of Prosper,
which got its name after the farms in the area enjoyed a
  particularly strong harvest; and
WHEREAS, The town was incorporated on April 17, 1914, and
continued to serve as a market center for cotton and corn farmers
during its early decades; today, this rapidly growing city lives up
to its name as an upscale suburban community that benefits from its
proximity to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex while preserving its
  small-town sense of place; and
WHEREAS, In a final commemoration of the city's centennial
year, the Party at the Park includes games, rides, and a 1950s rock
and roll revue; the event is concluding with the burying of a time
capsule that will preserve artifacts representative of life in
  Prosper in 2015; and
WHEREAS, The 100th anniversary of Prosper provides a fitting
opportunity for its citizens to celebrate the city's rich history
as they work to build an even brighter future, and they may indeed
take great pride in their community's contributions to the Lone
Star State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the centennial year of the city of
Prosper and extend to the community's residents and guests sincere
best wishes for an enjoyable and meaningful closing ceremony; and,
  be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the city of Prosper as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
